Benzac AC 5% Gel is a medication used to treat acne by killing acne-causing bacteria. It can be used alone or in combination with other acne treatments, following the instructions provided in the leaflet. It should be applied to clean and dry skin once or twice a day, avoiding damaged or broken skin, as well as contact with mouth, eyes, and nose. Improvement in symptoms may take several weeks, and if no improvement is seen after a month, consult a doctor. Common side effects include itching, stinging, peeling, and redness of the skin, which can be managed by using smaller amounts or less frequently. It is important to protect treated areas from sunlight and avoid contact with hair and fabrics as it can cause bleaching. Inform your doctor of any other skin conditions or medications being used, especially those applied topically, and seek advice if pregnant or breastfeeding.
